Mark's acoustic guitar style is
unique. Less becomes more.
The Solitude Collection recordings are borne of
simplicity and humility, purposefully seeking artistic space and
breathing room. Tranquil melodies lead the
listener toward peace, relaxation, contemplation.
Mark's guitar work is
inspired by Michael Hedges, John Michael Talbot, Billy McLaughlin, Phil Keaggy, and James
Taylor. |

The concept
for the Solitude Collection was borne of adversity and tribulation.
Guitarist / arranger Mark Magnuson says, "I
had been presented with the concept several years before, and shelved
the idea. When my father was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2003, I knew
why I was supposed to record it. These familiar
hymns bring peace and comfort to
those who listen. Toward the end of his life, my Dad would be
comforted by these songs. In a real sense, I
pondered the solitude he was facing, passing from this life into the
next. I recorded this music as simple as possible so it sounded like I
was in the room playing it for him."
